Calling Home the Dead Sometimes we create web designs for others to program. Sometimes we program a website design. For effective search it is always best that all the text be html text. That can present some very difficult web page programming challenges. Fortunately, Rick has been creating web pages from complicated designs for a long time. Here is a link to the website

Vantage Physicians Vantage Physicians is a medical practice that offers premium access health care known as a Direct Medical Practice in which the physician works directly for their patients, and a minimal monthly fee covers the cost of all in-office services. For Drs. Kershisnik and Ritchie, having a Direct Medical Practice allows their patients to have access to their personal family physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! They offer same day appointments, house calls, hospital visits, and telephone or email consultations. Each appointment is set to allow you enough time to address patient concerns and get the type of personal care you expect from your physician. We created this brochure for office and mailing purposes. |

Splash June and July have been very busy. Janice finished the Washington Center Season Brochure along with many other pieces for the Center. Business has been very busy and that is appreciated very much. Splash is an art gallery that began as a whimsical thought. We all know where whimsy can lead. Now with the aid and cooperation of 12 people, and the kind assistance of others, there will be an art gallery in about two more weeks ("two more weeks" the classic line of the contractor in the movie The Money Pit with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long). Perhaps the most interesting part of the development of the gallery is the experience of shared vision, commitment, and the flow of each aspect. SPLASH > |

We are in the midst of a re-design for Eric. His agent wants him re-branded to emphasize his acting over his singing career. This is going to involve a top to bottom group of changes, especially to the underlying code that viewers never concern themselves with. As we move along with this project we will update this news section letting you know when it is ready to look at. |

Cathy Arden Cathy Arden is an actress and writer who recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting there. This look is so new (March 1st) that I have not yet updated her website to look like it. We built this site in flash to allow for certain capabilities that are difficult to provide in a straight html website. Also, she wanted a site like Eric Michael Gillette's. I will be changing the website in a few days and you can see the current design now at http://cathyarden.com. |

| Olympia Acoustic Music Olympia Acoustic Music is a volunteer-run concert series bringing outstanding folk and acoustic singer/songwriters to Olympia. Like a house concert, performances are intimate and seat about fifty people. Each show provides the audience with an opportunity to meet and interact with the artist. Each concert is in an intimate setting in downtown Olympia in a room that has very good acoustics. Janice and I have attended two concerts and at the second concert she thought she would like to volunteer some design work. Here is the first contribution. This was her first design for an up coming concert. If you would like to know more, here is the website.

Washington Center For years we have been honored to create the print advertising for The Washington Center for the Performing Arts. We create the programs for the perfomances, the seasonal brochure, ads such as this one for the newspaper, and many many more. I thought putting one in our news section would be good. Janice and Kathy do such great design on these many pieces throughout the year. The Washington Center provides international quality performances in the Olympia Washington area. It also is committed to providing a wide variety of entertainment and cultural activities for the residents of five counties. Located in the heart of Washington State's capital city, The Center has become a community gathering place, providing a focus for the performing arts unique to the region. |

Robert Provasoli Chiropractic Robert came to us for his first website. He has been an established and respected Chiropractor for decades. He offers many therapeutic options from his office in Olympia Washington. The initial challenge was how to find colors that pleased. The second challenge was to organize the many topics to be easily accessible. The third challenge was to limit the scope of the topics and make them accessible and conversational. This is a very good example of a website that establishes presence, credibility, history, beauty, accessibility, and conceptual understanding. The website is here: |

Logo Design Janice has been creating a logo design for The University Health Clinic. These are only the variations on the two finalists. It is an amazing creative process to create a logo. The client will offer other logo designs they like along with colors and text. And often, in the end the logo will not be very close to those original ideas. From the start to the finish there can be dozens of variations. Logos are very important. They often give the first impression of the business, promote the business, attract potential customers, provide unique and innovative identity, and can be as important to the business as the business name. |

Aging Websites We are in the process of transforming an aging website into a site that is youthful. When this site was built nine years ago, most monitors were 15 inches or less and the resolution was very low. It was mostly 640 x 480 pixels. Today 85 percent of monitors resolutions are greater than 1024 x 786 pixels. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. So, a website created back in the day now looks very small on the screen. I could bore you with the myraid of other changes that have taken place in the coding of websites, I won't. The revised site is 1100 pixels wide, about twice as wide as the old one. The two pictures are to scale, they are shrunk to fit this page. We continued with the basic design idea. The design was created by Janice and as is the case with really good design, it can seem timeless. I will come back and let you know when the new site is online. This link now leads to the old site. |

SAM MILHAM Last year we created a site for a Doctor with a passion for uncovering the causes of disease occuring in clusters. Sam' s career focused on epidemiology. Epidemiologists study of patterns of health and illness and associated factors at the population level. It is the cornerstone method of public health research. He was self-publishing a book that focused on the relationship between the electrification of the United States and the rise in diseases such as cancer. It is a great book. I just received an email from Sam concerning the partial relationship between the website and book sales. He said: Dear Rick,
I thought you would be interested in learning that the book is selling well. Royalties in December were over $4,500. Thanks for your help. Best, Sam
